2026 Bull Sale

The bulls in this years sale have had an extreme variation in seasonal conditions in their short lives. Born in 2025, which is widely considered right up there with the toughest seasons for livestock here locally, now they have enjoyed the winter of 2026. You couldn’t ask for a better few months for livestock. What has been so rewarding, is watching our genetics handle these seasonal variations. While they didnt have any abundance of feed available to them early in their lives, they always displayed the shape and natural thickness we aim for. They maintaned condition and muscle in very difficult conditions. Now in 2026, these cattle have utilised the high quality feed in front of them so well, with some remarkable weight gains.

The sale this year is made up of 21 18 month old bulls, and 19 14-15 month old yearling bulls. We strive to put together a draft that is even, and i hope you can see the type of cattle we are trying to breed upon inspection of these bulls. They are thick, correct and display a consistency of type.

Millah Murrah Rector R53 is again the dominant sire line. It’s the last major draft of direct sons to feature in our sale, but his influence will continue through the daughters he has produced and some sons we have used in our stud program.

Angus Stud Sires

We have set out to breed cattle with a strong focus on phenotype and fundamental practicality for beef production. Essentially, we want to start our breeding program with cattle that exhibit good structure, easy doing ability and good weight gain at an early age.

After much searching and research, we felt Millah Murrah Angus Stud produced the type of cattle we wanted, so the Springwaters herd is based on a small number of stud cows purchased at the MM 2017, record breaking, female sale. We have also introduced some embryos from the famous Dream cow family and added some donors from the Witherswood dispersal that carried similar MM blood as our foundation cows.

Through the use of embryo transfer (ET) we have been able to start the stud from a consistent female base and tried to accelerate the development of our cattle. We have put in nearly 350 embryos in the last four years, some on a contract basis, but the majority are the foundation of our stud herd.
